How does Breakerbox calculate benchmark prices?

With 'benchmark' prices, Breakerbox aims to represent the rate that the customer would pay (would have paid / will pay) if they were to elect not to purchase energy from a competitive supplier. Depending on the state and utility, the calculation of this metric may vary. However, in most cases, we are using user-provided data to make an estimate of the customer's rate class. Then using that rate class, we collect historical price data and future price projections from established 3rd parties. These 3rd parties include, but are not limited to, Genability and Truelight. The prices we receive from these 3rd parties may or may not be altered by proprietary algorithms. Though we make a significant effort to ensure the accuracy of this data, future price predictions are ultimately only predictions. Forecast rates are for planning and education purposes only and not statements of fact.
